Job Summary

The major purpose is to operate chemical process equipment to produce chemical products from raw materials emphasizing human safety, environmental integrity and zero product or raw material loss. This position must support and participate in all health and safety endeavors, World Class Manufacturing activities, Product Stewardship programs and all quality systems inclusive of ISO system.

Job Description

• Know all hazards of this job to specifically include characteristics and handling procedures of all chemicals used or produced within confines of area assigned. • Know chemical process description and physical/field location of all equipment and pipelines of unit(s) assigned. • Be able to operate and have a working knowledge of the safe operation of a variety of chemical processing equipment. • Document necessary and accurate data/text in prescribed publication volumes or sheets. • Obtain, inspect, fill, empty and label correctly all containers required by the various processes. • Be able to take all samples in unit(s) required for normal operation, troubleshooting and customer service in a safe manner. • Maintain clean areas in unit(s) assigned to meet all safety standards and to provide a presentable unit to any visitors. • Be able to prepare hazardous waste drums as well as non hazardous waste drums. • Be able to unload raw material tank trucks, as well as load finished product tank trucks. • Clean-up and decontaminate after spills. • Be able to direct, load, and package a finished product. • Perform key functions as a Laboratory Chemical Technician. • Perform other task assigned by direct supervisor/manager.

Job Qualification

• At least Diploma in Chemical, Petrochemical, Mechanic or related disciplines. • 0-5 years of chemical plant experience. • Must be able to read, write legibly and perform calculations involving addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, and decimals. • Must be (1) willing to work independently without constant supervision (2) constantly alert to detect abnormal conditions of operation and equipment (3) exercise judgment in acting promptly to correct such conditions. Must be able to function in a self-directed work team environment. • Personal Computer skill and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word. • Have a comprehensive working knowledge of the safe operation of a variety of chemical processing equipment and areas in the plant such as reactors, condensers, measuring tanks, storage tanks, pressure filters, vacuum pumps, transfer pumps, agitators, fractionating columns, and all auxiliary equipment necessary for the operation of the foregoing equipment.
