Job Description
The roles and responsibilities of Senior Materials and Corrosion Engineer are to maintain plant technical integrity by following a specific materials and corrosion management system, engineering project, technical integrity assessment, Risk Based Inspection (RBI) streamline process, Process Safety Management (PSM) – Mechanical Integrity (MI), competency development program, reliability and asset integrity management, and technical knowledge management and mentoring program.
1. Provide expertise technical consultancy on the following:
1.1. Corrosion engineering which comprises of 2 main components
1.1.1. Materials selection (Basic Design Review – BDR)
1.1.2. Design corrosion control system
1.2. Corrosion management strategy which comprises of 4 stages
1.2.1. Integrity process review based on 2 approaches of Corrosion Risk Assessment (CRA) and Integrity Operating Window (IOW)
1.2.2. Execute and continuously improve Corrosion Management Strategy based on 3 approaches of Risk Based Inspection (RBI) program, monitoring program and corrosion mitigation Program
1.2.3. Implementation and Analysis – To ensure that all actions identified in corrosion management strategy are carried out as required. Once significant failure is found, root cause of failure analysis shall be determined to prevent similar failure in the future.
1.2.4. Review and Improvement –
Partial review shall be performed once there are significant changes in operating conditions (MOC), or inspection findings of significant changes.
Fully reviewed after major turnaround (TA) or major revamp. An outcome from reviewing, corrosion monitoring and lesson learnt from incident and failure analysis are considered for improving in terms of “corrosion engineering” and “corrosion management strategy”.
2. Provide assessment function on asset integrity (AIA) to all PTTGC plants and affiliates.
3. Implement staff competency in-line with EPS (Engineering Progression Scheme) or EM (Engineering and Maintenance) family and maintain/ enhance learning and knowledge sharing session – Expert House.
4. Contribute and enhance technical knowledge to engineer, operation and related staff in the COE/ COP workshop/ conference and training program.
5. Participate in technical review, update and development on company standards (GCEP) and Recommend practices (GCRP).
