Job Summary

The Process Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of refinery process units. This role involves monitoring process conditions, optimizing performance, troubleshooting operational issues, and supporting refinery-wide initiatives related to process safety, energy efficiency, and profitability. The Process Engineer will collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, and other technical teams to drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Job Description

1. Process Optimization & Technical Support

• Monitor, analyze, and optimize refinery unit performance to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Provide technical expertise to Operations, Maintenance, and other refinery teams.
• Identify opportunities to enhance plant efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and improve process reliability.

2. Process Monitoring & Troubleshooting

• Conduct routine performance evaluations and process health assessments.
• Diagnose and resolve operational issues, including unit upsets, inefficiencies, and abnormal conditions.
• Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation.

3. Process Safety & Environmental Compliance

• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Hazop studies, and risk assessments.
• Identify and implement process safety improvements.

4. Feed & Product Quality Management

• Evaluate and approve feedstock and product quality specifications.
• Routine monitoring and advise guideline to ensure product qualities within control.

5. Catalyst, Chemical & Utility Management

• Monitor catalyst performance and chemical usage in refinery processes.
• Optimize utility consumption to improve cost-effectiveness and sustainability.

6. Process Engineering Studies & Capital Projects

• Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations for process modifications and new investments.
• Support capital project development, justification, and execution.

7. Turnaround & Shutdown Support

• Provide process engineering support during planned shutdowns and maintenance turnarounds.
• Assist in planning and execution of equipment inspections, catalyst changes, and process modifications.

8. Energy Efficiency & Sustainability Initiatives

• Identify opportunities for energy savings and emission reductions.
• Support carbon reduction and sustainability programs.

9. Training & Knowledge Sharing

• Provide technical training and mentorship to junior engineers and Operations staff.
• Document best practices and lessons learned to enhance refinery knowledge management.

Education

Bachelor or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Industrial Chem, or related fields.
